Hazel Cashmore was born in Warwickshire and moved to Caithness in 1978. Her works, painted in oils and acrylics, originate from her experience of the landscapes of Caithness and Sutherland, which are both her home and inspiration. Towering seas, panoramic vistas and brooding hills and moorlands occupy her paintings, capturing the qualities of Scotland’s two most northerly counties. Visions of the Far North represent the artist’s emotional response to her surroundings: ‘In my work I try to convey a sense of place, whilst at the same time using land, sea, and sky to give access to the personal and universal.’
